Re-Pressurising an RO Storage Tank

If your Reverse Osmosis tank has reduced capacity or poor flow, it may need to be re-pressurised.

Important: The tank must be completely empty of water before checking or adjusting the air pressure. With the tank empty, the internal air pressure should generally be between 5–7 PSI.

Too much air pressure can prevent purified water from entering the tank properly, while too little pressure can result in poor flow from the drinking tap.

Quick tips:

• Turn off the incoming water supply before starting.
• Open the RO tap and allow the tank to drain completely.
• Check the air pressure using the valve on the bottom/side of the tank.
• Add air slowly with a bicycle pump or similar hand pump.
• Recheck the pressure frequently and avoid over-inflating.
• Only measure the tank pressure when the tank is completely empty.
• Once set to 5–7 PSI, close the RO tap, turn the water supply back on and allow the tank to refill fully before testing the flow.
• If water comes out of the air valve, the internal bladder may have failed and the tank will normally require replacement.
